Last March an article was published on the probable death of vertical content , which I honestly don't agree with. Even though the post talks about a potential future, I still believe that focusing on one theme is a good solution. But we will see better later how to organize ourselves for the future. Riccardo Esposito responded to that article by talking about how to avoid the creative crisis of vertical content , giving some advice on how to continue writing about a single topic. For those who don't know what these blessed vertical contents are, let's give some examples that clarify the concept better. A newspaper publishes horizontal content, because within it we find various themes, such as Health, Politics, Science, Nature, Home, Cars, etc. A dessert recipe blog publishes vertical content, because we read posts on only one topic.
Vertical contents therefore represent the focus on a single Special Data theme . But how long can you write about just one topic? This is a question that some bloggers and professionals have to ask themselves at some point. Yes, because for some, niche and vertical content are the only way to go. When vertical content is a must Why do you start a blog? I like to think that the reason is solely the passion for one or more topics. The desire to write about it, therefore, and to be read, to create discussion and exchange of opinions and knowledge. This is certainly true, but, perhaps more realistically, let's say that a blog is opened for work reasons (professionals and companies that need to make themselves known) or for simple passion. Again let's take some practical examples. My blog on Edgar Allan Poe was started because I like that author and I wanted to talk about it, I wanted to publish information and resources on that writer.
That blog publishes vertical content, because there is only one topic: Edgar Allan Poe. A company that produces pasta and wants to open a company blog will have to create vertical content, because its product is pasta and therefore its blog will have to focus on the topic of pasta. A web agency that offers web design, search engine positioning, web marketing, social media marketing, blogging and copywriting services will have a horizontal content blog, because the topics are quite varied. For me, a Poe enthusiast, and for the pasta factory, the verticality of the contents is an obligatory choice. If your profession is SEO, if you are a community manager, a dentist, a psychologist, a lawyer, an accountant, an illustrator, a graphic designer, then your blog will be focused on a single theme and will publish vertical content.
